Connecting Kids To Meals is a sponsor of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which is another Child Nutrition Program established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Under the Afterschool Meal Program, we provide and serve hot, nutritious meals to children enrolled in afterschool programs located in low-income and underserved areas. Children receive hot meals at no cost during their educational and enrichment activities and this enables them to focus and learn at their maximum capacity.
Currently, we are providing about 1,200 hot, nutritionally balanced meals to children at about 30 sites each day. Last year, we served just over 178,000 meals to hungry kids.
Connecting Kids to Meals help[s] us show these children they are not invisible to us – that we know they need us, and that we are here for them.Thomas Pounds, President and Publisher of The Toledo Free Press
